MotionGit Skill

Turn a video project into a .motion template on your own computer. Conversion, personal-data cleanup and validation happen locally; the platform receives the finished package.

What it does

  1. Identify the project. Find entry points, source, assets, fonts and dependencies.
  2. Extract parameters. Confirm replaceable text, colors and assets with you and generate params.schema.json.
  3. Remove personal information. Scan phone numbers, identity numbers, local paths, API Keys and private photos, then replace them with parameters or input slots.
  4. Build the manifest. Write motion.json, README, license index and integrity.json. Declare the actual authoring tool.
  5. Validate locally. Use the same static inspector as the platform. Passing local inspection does not replace manual review.

Installation

MotionGit Skill follows the open Agent Skills format and can be installed in Claude Code and other tools supporting it.

# Download and unpack into Claude Code's skill directory
curl -fsSL https://motiongit.com/skill/motiongit-skill.zip -o /tmp/motiongit-skill.zip
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip -o /tmp/motiongit-skill.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

Then ask Claude:

Use the MotionGit Skill to package this video project as a .motion template.

Local commands

The Skill includes a dependency-free CLI requiring Node.js 20 or later:

node ~/.claude/skills/motiongit/scripts/motion.mjs inspect my-video.motion
node ~/.claude/skills/motiongit/scripts/motion.mjs scan ./my-project
node ~/.claude/skills/motiongit/scripts/motion.mjs pack ./my-template out.motion

Accepted authoring tools

Current uploads accept work actually made with Claude. Provenance comes from ai.authoring in motion.json and manual review. Declare the real tool; changing the field does not change the project’s origin.
